we are rooted
tradition and modernism - a new voice
With its etymology from the Sanskrit "
tri " and "
pada ' (meaning three-legged),
Teepoi is a word embedded in our tales of the good old days. Story telling is our way of communication through visual media. Stories that help us keep alive Light, Sound and Time – the three dimensions to a motion picture. We create an atmosphere where honesty and passion thrive, which allows us to continually create emotional work and, most importantly, weave inseparable bonds with people.
We are a documentary film studio rooted in South India, making films that hold space for stories that are raw, uncomfortable, deeply local and often quietly powerful. Our work doesn’t aim to simplify complex realities. It sits with the mess, the contradictions, and the beauty that emerge when real people speak on their own terms.

Ar. KARISHMA RAO

VISHWESH

Ar. VANDANA DRUVA
We identify and narrate stories through the medium of film and photography.
Our stories are widespread across subjects about:
We film with our feet on the ground, sometimes ankle-deep in landfill sludge, sometimes standing on rooftops with architects mapping memories into concrete. We work slowly, returning to our subjects, letting trust and time do their quiet work.
Teepoi is not content. It’s a conversation. Between what is seen and what is hidden. Between systems and the people living inside them. Between craft and community.
We make films not to explain the world, but to stay with the parts of it that are often ignored—and to ask what changes when we really listen.

“We loved working with Teepoi. Both Karishma and Vishwesh took great care in understanding our needs as a budding nonprofit and helped create a video that tells our story perfectly. We now use that video for all our outreach. Highly recommended!"

In journalism, there are two kinds of reportage that are spoken of - event and process. Event reportage centres around what happened due to an event - what led to it, the aftermath, who was affected, and so on. Process reportage on the other hand, has to grapple with that difficult entity called time. A process is about how certain shifts took place due to people, institutions, and circumstance. Despite how important it is, process journalism is hard to practice, for it requires a deeper level of engagement sustained over time. It also involves the ability to compose narratives that hold the interest of the viewer without sacrificing narrative depth, which is exactly what Teepoi has built expertise in. Along with their ability to build engrossing visual narratives, what sets Teepoi apart is their engagement with the society at large; their initiatives such as Creative Morning and work on citizen participation lets them approach different subjects with informed understanding. Given that at Fields of View too, our focus is on undertaking research and designing tools to change policy processes, our long and continuing partnership with Teepoi has helped us to successfully articulate difficult narratives for a wide audience.

"Working with Teepoi team was quite a pleasure. The team got engrossed with the product and understood it in quite well during the course of engagement which helped to convey the message a lot better. They could get the content out very well with the interview/conversation format of engagement. The team being quite friendly did help in easing out the intimidating task of shooting in the early days."

"I have known the Teepoi team well before they became one!! Over the years, their technical strengths have grown to match their passion. I have worked closely with the team for varied assignments and in each case, the quality of the final product has been exceptional. Over and above Teepoi's passionate commitment to detail, I personally find their sensibilities to culture and people very valuable. Their ability and patience to capture nuances of a story as well as integrate varied lenses is obvious in the sharp and focused end product."

"I had the pleasure of contracting with Teepoi to develop an inspirational story for our organization. We found them to be professional, trustworthy, creative, and a genuine pleasure to work with. They worked with our team to manage the logistics, helped in developing and finalizing the overall concept and scripting, and provided a lot of creative expertise in producing the final product. We would highly recommend them and are grateful for the experience we had in working with them on our project."

"The team at Teepoi was our first sounding board when we started off. At the time we were total novices and it was fantastic to find an approachable and perceptive set of filmmakers and designers to help us navigate new waters."

"People leave to seek a new road. People have their reasons. Teepoi did it for insane passion that reflects in their work. This time it’s the world thanking them for making the right choices or else we, as people, as stories, would have lost on freshness, perspective and creativity. They just made it easy for the world to discover brilliant talent by discovering their paths."
